There are 11 registered greyhound racing clubs in New Zealand, and together they make up the New Zealand Greyhound Racing Association Incorporated (NZGRA), also known as Greyhound Racing New Zealand (GRNZ).

The greyhound racing industry falls under the auspices of the New Zealand Racing Board (NZRB), in accordance with the Racing Act of 2003.

Greyhounds As Pets (GAP)

If you want to adopt a retired greyhound in New Zealand, contact the organisation Greyhounds As Pets (GAP). GAP was founded in 2006 by GRNZ.

GAP operates two kennels were retired greyhounds can live while waiting to be matched with a new suitable owner. One of the kennels are in Sanson on North Island, the other in Amberley on South Island.
